SUPPORT GROUPS

An independent support group is a group of local homeschool families who come together for the purpose of assisting and encouraging each other.  These groups are comprised of volunteers, and are usually directed by some form of leadership. Support Groups tend to hold regular meetings and activities, and may charge a nominal membership fee. A Support Group is not a business and therefore does not exist to produce goods or services for sale (with the exception of single-event fundraising).

GHEA recognizes the changing homeschool landscape and has included groups that are virtual; meaning they may only be found on a social media platform and members engage online. An example would be a Facebook Group.

We believe support groups can play a vital role in the homeschool experience, especially for parents who are new to homeschooling. We encourage you to find and participate in a local homeschool support group, especially one that meets in-person periodically.
