Brief description of the group.

Newton County Homeschool Co-op is a social co-op based out of Newton County, Georgia. We currently serve just under 1000 families across 9 counties surrounding and including Newton County.
We were founded in November of 2015 with just a handful of families as a way for local homeschoolers to connect with one another. We do not charge any kind of membership fees. We are inclusive to any family who is currently homeschooling or considering homeschooling (as long as they follow our policies and procedures).
Our focus is to "Encourage. Enrich. Educate".
We want to be able to encourage other homeschoolers on their journeys. We try to help families find curriculum, class, and extracurricular options that suit them. When families have questions about anything homeschool related, or even parenting related, we do our best to help them get answers.
We have worked hard over the years to provide enrichment opportunities. We try to have regular group field trips. We have groups that meet for park play days. We have worked with local businesses to start classes and clubs for art, dance, archery, golf, soccer, tennis, music, horseback riding, and more. We work with other local groups that provide classes to homeschool students.
We also help educate homeschool families. We make sure they understand the regulations for homeschooling in the state of Georgia. We make sure they get their Declaration of Intent filed annually. We let them know about resources that are available to them. We help educate them on homeschooling methods, learning styles, curriculum options, and whatever else we can help with.
We typically hold our Homeschool Bash every fall. It is a 'small scale homeschool expo'. We normally have families that come together for holiday parties (fall party, Christmas party, Valentine's swap, Easter egg hunt, etc.). We try to have a Field Day each spring with games and activities. In 2021, we held our first ever high school graduation ceremony!
